Timeless Jewels creates a safe space for Black LGBTQ+ elders age 50 and above. These gatherings foster community, mentorship, and intergenerational connection, addressing social isolation and promoting well-being. Every participant emphasizes the importance of community support in aging with dignity and pride.

Why this work is important:

59% of LGBTQ+ elders report feeling a lack of companionship (SAGE, 2018). They are also twice as likely to live alone and four times less likely to have children compared to their peers. These findings highlight that creating intentional opportunities for connection is vital for LGBTQ+ elders.

Through the Timeless Jewels, MashUp! aims to foster a sense of community and establish a supportive environment for Black LGBTQ+ individuals who are 50 years old and above. These spaces offer a secure community, encourage mentorship between different generations within the community, and enhance overall health outcomes and quality of life by providing necessary resources and a supportive community.

Intergenerational Storytelling & Support

Timeless Jewels creates space where lived experiences are honored and wisdom is shared. Through bi-monthly gatherings, participants explore topics like vitality, aging, and sexual health. Testimonies reflect the powerful impact of seeing oneself reflected in others—affirming that aging is not decline, but transformation.

MashUp! hosts a Timeless Jewels event usually bimonthly. The events are usually free and include food. While the events a specifically catered to gay, lesbian, and trans individuals age 50 and up, everyone is welcome. The more the merrier!
