NASHVILLE, TN — MashUp, a Nashville-based nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives and well-being of Black LGBTQ+ people, is proud to announce two major events in recognition of World AIDS Day 2025: Portara Ensemble Presents One Vision: A World AIDS Day Tribute to Queen, and the 6th Annual Rev. Edwin C. Sanders II World AIDS Day Luncheon. Both events celebrate community power, honor those lost and those still fighting and raise critical support for local HIV education, advocacy and health-equity programs.

A dynamic celebration of one of the greatest bands ever to hit the stage, One Vision brings Queen’s biggest hits to life in a way audiences have never experienced before—a killer band backed by a full choir and an incredible roster of guest vocalists. This special World AIDS Day performance honors the legacy of Freddie Mercury while shining a light on ongoing HIV awareness and health-equity efforts in Nashville.
“Queen’s music has always embodied power, freedom, and unapologetic authenticity,” said Brian Marshall, Founder of MashUp. “Those values are at the heart of our mission. This tribute not only honors Freddie Mercury, but uplifts the resilience and brilliance of Black LGBTQ+ people whose voices deserve to be amplified every day.”
“As a community, we are strongest when art, advocacy and action come together,” added Jerry Ivery, COO of MashUp. “One Vision is exactly that—a reminder that we can celebrate joy while continuing the necessary work to confront inequities, expand access to care and build a healthier future for all.”

Location: Metropolitan Interdominational Church
2128 11th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208
MashUp will also host the 6th Annual Rev. Edwin C. Sanders II World AIDS Day Luncheon, an event honoring the legacy of civil rights champion, minister and HIV/AIDS advocate Rev. Edwin C. Sanders II. The luncheon recognizes community heroes whose leadership, compassion and courage continue to drive progress in ending HIV in Middle Tennessee.
This year’s luncheon will spotlight advocates, caregivers and organizations that embody Rev. Sanders’s lifelong commitment to justice, dignity and community healing.
“This year’s theme Rethink. Rebuild. Rise. reminds us that the HIV response continues to be defined by innovation, collaboration and unwavering strength,” says Marshall. “Together, we will honor those who have led the way in care and advocacy — and uplift the next generation continuing the work.”
